Living in & buying/selling in Haverhill, MA
On the Merrimack at the end of the train line that carries its name — with the New Hampshire border along its northern edge.
Haverhill, briefly
Haverhill sits on the Merrimack River at the end of the MBTA line that carries its name, with the New Hampshire border along its northern edge. It has two commuter rail stations — Haverhill and Bradford — a downtown of brick buildings from its shoe-making years, and quieter, more open roads toward its outer edges.
Bradford, across the river from downtown, was its own town until it joined Haverhill in 1897. Between the two sides you get a wide spread of homes, prices and lot sizes inside one city.
Haverhill, this week
Live from public sources and refreshed every week. When a town has no separate series, the panel shows county figures and says so.

What the housing stock looks like
Downtown and the older neighborhoods around it have two- and three-family homes, Victorians, and residential lofts in converted shoe-factory buildings. Bradford mixes older homes with mid-century streets. Further out you will find colonials, capes and newer subdivisions on larger lots, and some farm properties.
For owner-occupant investors, Haverhill’s multi-families sit within reach of a train station; for buyers who want space, the outer sections offer it without leaving Massachusetts. On older homes we plan around heating, electrical, roofs and lead paint for anything built before 1978.

Schools in Haverhill
Haverhill’s public schools are run by Haverhill Public Schools. For school assignments, enrollment and programs, go straight to the district — it is the only source I point clients to.
I don't rank or rate schools; the district and the state are the sources to trust. The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education publishes school and district profiles for every public district in the state.
